Bridging Lahore’s Luxury Aesthetic with Islamabad’s Modern Urbanity in 1 Kanal Modern Luxury House Design in DHA Phase 5 Islamabad
Located in the prime residential sector of DHA Phase 5, Islamabad, Faheem House is a signature 1 Kanal modern luxury house design. The project was specifically commissioned by a client moving from Lahore, whose vision was to transplant the “grand luxury” aesthetic commonly found in Lahore’s high-end sectors into the organized urban fabric of Islamabad. While Islamabad architecture often leans toward strictly functional modernism, Faheem House redefines the local landscape with a bolder, more expressive architectural language.
The exterior of the residence is a study in verticality and textural contrast, moving away from simple flat surfaces to create a tiered, volumetric presence. The material palette is meticulously chosen to evoke a sense of permanence and high-end craftsmanship:
- Verticality and Linear Accents: The design features prominent wood-textured louvers that run vertically across the facade, providing both a rhythmic visual element and essential privacy for the internal living areas.
- Textural Contrast and Cladding: The integration of premium dark marble surfaces provides a stark, luxurious contrast against the raw, neutral-toned fair-face concrete walls, a hallmark of contemporary high-end architecture in Pakistan.
- Structural Volumes: Large, bold cantilevered slabs and recessed sections create deep shadows and a dynamic silhouette that avoids the monotony of traditional box-like structures.
The layout of Faheem House is designed for the modern lifestyle, focusing on an open-plan concept that maximizes the perception of space:
- Expansive Glazing: The residence utilizes double-height glass facades and floor-to-ceiling windows to ensure the interior is flooded with natural light, bridging the gap between indoor and outdoor environments.
- Architectural Strip Lighting: To maintain its “luxury feel” after sunset, the facade features integrated LED strip lighting and accent lights that highlight the wood louvers and structural volumes, making it a landmark in the DHA 5 streetscape.
- Luxury Main Entrance: The entrance is marked by a solid wood main door design and a minimalist foyer, setting a tone of refined elegance from the moment of arrival.
In Lahore, luxury architecture is often characterized by a greater degree of visual “weight” and a preference for grander, more decorative material applications. Faheem House successfully integrates these Lahori-style luxury elements such as the heavy use of marble and intricate vertical louver systems into the sleek, minimalist requirements of DHA Islamabad’s construction bylaws. The result is a residence that offers the “grandeur” expected by a Lahore-based client while maintaining the sophisticated modernism suited for an Islamabad address.
