Architectural Trends in Pakistan 2025: A Vision Forward

Embracing Sustainable Innovation & Smart Living

In 2025, Pakistan’s architectural transformation is unmistakable. From architects in Islamabad to interior design companies across the country, the architecture and construction industry is evolving. Driven by environmental realities, technological advances, and a renewed respect for culture. At Primarc Studio – Architecture and Interior Design Firm, we’ve seen these changes firsthand through our projects in Islamabad, DHA Phase 2, and across Pakistan.

But what does this transformation mean for homeowners, businesses, and city planners? Let’s break down the key architectural and interior design trends shaping Pakistan today, while also looking at the real challenges our architecture and construction industry faces and how our team has solved them.

1. Sustainable & Smart Design

Sustainability is no longer optional – it’s essential. Many homes in Pakistan face rising electricity costs and power shortages. This is why our studio integrates solar panels, rainwater harvesting systems, and energy-efficient materials into residential and commercial projects.

For example, in our 14 marla residence named Aashiq House in G-11/2 Islamabad, we introduced a solar-ready roof and climate-responsive materials like solar chips that reduce indoor heat gain, cutting energy bills by 25%. Smart home systems, automated lighting, integrated security, and temperature control are also becoming standard, especially in DHA Phase 2 houses and villas where clients demand comfort without compromising efficiency.

2. Minimalist Interiors with Local Flair

Minimalism in house design in Pakistan often clashes with our cultural preference for detail and ornamentation. The challenge is finding balance. At Primarc Studio, we design uncluttered spaces with clean lines, neutral palettes, and natural textures like wood and stone, but we also celebrate heritage through handcrafted finishes and locally sourced elements.

In one interior design project in DHA Islamabad, our architects solved the issue of limited natural light by introducing open-plan layouts with reflective flooring and custom jaali partitions, keeping the space classical, lit and yet distinctly Pakistani.

3. Open & Flexible Floor Plans

Urban congestion and smaller plots mean that homeowners in Islamabad and Lahore often struggle to create spacious layouts. Traditional segmented homes are inefficient for modern living.

Our solution? Open-concept design. In a recent residential architecture project in Faisal Margalla City, we connected the living, dining, and kitchen areas into one multifunctional space while adding a rooftop terrace for outdoor living. Flexible layouts allow families to adapt rooms into home offices, gyms, or guest spaces as needs change.

4. Heritage-Inspired Contemporary Aesthetics

One recurring issue in Pakistan’s architecture industry is that modern designs sometimes erase cultural identity. At Primarc Studio, we aim to blend heritage with contemporary design.

In this 1 Kanal modern corner residence in DHA Phase 2, Islamabad, we redefined luxury living—not through heritage mimicry, but through inventive transformation. Taking over a project already under construction, our team remodeled the façade and interior to reflect modern elegance with organic integration.

We introduced sculptural voids where a tree emerges from the basement floor—a striking connection with nature that welcomes visitors upon entry.

The façade was reimagined with clean, contemporary lines and thoughtfully layered geometry, complemented by bespoke lighting that dynamically plays across the structure, enhancing depth and evening ambiance. This aesthetic upgrade didn’t just elevate the building’s curb appeal, it re-contextualized its character, marrying timeless sophistication with authentic modernity.

5. Biophilic Design & Outdoor Integration

As cities like Islamabad grow denser, people crave greenery within their homes. However, small plots and privacy concerns often limit possibilities.

We overcome this by introducing indoor courtyards, vertical gardens, and daylight-maximizing glazing. For example, a client in F-11 Islamabad wanted greenery but had limited yard space. Our architects solved this by creating a double-height indoor atrium with vertical planting, turning the home into a refreshing retreat without expanding its footprint.

6. Prefabrication & Steel Reinforcements

Pakistan’s construction industry struggles with delays, rising material costs, and inconsistent labor quality. Prefabricated and steel-reinforced structures are emerging as efficient solutions.

Our multi-functional parking plaza in Bagh, Azad Kashmir is a prime example. By using hybrid steel framing and prefabricated elements, we reduced construction time by 30% while ensuring resilience against seismic activity – a major concern in northern Pakistan.

7. Heritage Restoration Meets Urban Renewal

Beyond new builds, our nation faces the urgent challenge of preserving history. In Lahore, the Lahore Authority for Heritage Revival (LAHR) is working on restoration of Mughal and colonial landmarks. Similarly, we believe private architects must contribute to safeguarding heritage.

In Islamabad, we recently advised on a heritage-inspired community center, where traditional design language was carefully integrated into a modern urban setting bridging the past with the future.
