Mastering Vertical Fluted Gutka

SKCON House 02 is a sophisticated exploration of texture, materiality, and spatial efficiency within the developing landscape of B-17, Islamabad. The residence serves as a masterclass in modern organic architecture, moving away from the sterile, flat surfaces common in suburban housing and opting instead for a rich, tactile experience grounded in traditional craftsmanship. The defining feature of the facade is the extensive use of vertical fluted gutka cladding laid in a rigorous, repetitive pattern. This brickwork creates a rhythmic texture that plays with light and shadow throughout the day, offering a timeless aesthetic that is both thermally efficient and visually striking while providing a grounded contrast to the sleek glass and dark metal accents.

To maximize the potential of the 14 Marla plot, the design utilizes a long porch layout. This departure from the traditional wide porch allows for the comfortable accommodation of two large vehicles while maintaining a clean, streamlined front profile. The home further challenges conventional layouts with its unique guest and social zones. A functional basement is designed specifically to house a guest suite, providing a quiet retreat away from the main living areas. Additionally, the Drawing Room is situated at the rear of the ground floor and is accessible via a dedicated side gully. This provides guests with a private, separate entry that preserves the total sanctity of the family’s internal living spaces.
